- Foil-Stitched Silica Needle Mat -

Foil-Stitched Silica Needle Mat is manufactured by stitch-bonding an aluminum foil layer to a high-silica needle mat using high-temperature sewing threads. This construction combines the thermal stability of silica fibers with the reflective and barrier functions of foil-facing. The aluminum foil layer reflects infrared heat and reduces overall heat flux, while also providing a dust-proof surface that improves cleanliness and worker safety in installation and maintenance.

The mat itself is composed of 95–99% amorphous SiO₂ fibers, offering continuous thermal performance at 1100 °C (2000 °F) and peak tolerance up to 1200 °C (2200 °F). Dimensional stability is maintained with a linear shrinkage ≤7% at 1100 °C and ≤1% at 1200 °C. With fiber diameters of 6–9 µm, the product produces minimal airborne dust compared to ceramic fiber, reducing irritation and handling risks. No binders or adhesives are used, eliminating any toxic gas or smoke release during heat exposure.

Thermal conductivity values are 0.04 W/m·K at 100 °C, 0.16 W/m·K at 600 °C, and 0.34 W/m·K at 1000 °C, while a 50 mm thick mat achieves sound absorption coefficients of 0.42–0.44 under ASTM load conditions, supporting dual insulation and acoustic control. Electrical resistivity is 10¹⁷–10¹⁸ Ω·cm, allowing safe use in systems requiring both thermal and electrical insulation.

In steelmaking converters, electric arc furnaces, hot coil warehouses, and rolling lines, the foil-stitched mat slows down cooling rates, reducing residual stress in castings and enabling controlled grain structures during stress-relief heat treatment. In HVAC ducts, chimneys, and high-temperature exhaust systems, the reflective foil reduces heat loss and increases system efficiency. In welding and fabrication, it acts as a radiant barrier and thermal shield, protecting both equipment and personnel.

The material is typically supplied in rolls of 920 mm width × 30 m length, with standard thicknesses from 4–20 mm. Custom widths from 800 mm to 1800 mm are available on request.
