Heaterk’s carbon fiber fabric is a high-performance and high-quality reinforcement material designed for aerospace, automotive, industrial, and defense applications. Manufactured from carbon fiber with over 95% carbon content, carbon fiber fabric undergoes a precision-controlled production process, including pre-oxidation at 200-300°C (392-572°F), carbonization at 1,000-1,500°C (1,832-2,732°F), and graphitization up to 3,000°C (5,432°F). These advanced thermal treatments refine the molecular structure of carbon fiber, resulting in superior tensile strength, stiffness, heat resistance, and chemical stability.

Carbon fiber fabric weaving method

With a density of 1.6 g/cm³ (0.058 lb/in³), carbon fiber fabric is four times lighter than steel yet delivers tensile strengths up to 4,500 MPa (652 ksi) and tensile moduli up to 230 GPa (33.4 Msi). Its superior interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) of 60 MPa (8.7 ksi) ensures the durability of composite laminates, making carbon fiber fabric ideal for structural reinforcement and impact-resistant applications. Heaterk offers woven fabrics in plain, twill, satin, and unidirectional weaves, providing tailored mechanical properties, drapability, and resin permeability for different composite manufacturing processes.

To ensure compatibility with prepreg, wet layup, and vacuum infusion systems, carbon fiber fabric is surface-treated with an epoxy-compatible sizing agent. This 1.0-2.0% weight fraction coating enhances fiber-matrix bonding, improving laminate strength and resin wetting behavior. For specialized applications, custom polyester and vinyl ester sizing treatments are available upon request, making carbon fabrics adaptable to a variety of applications in high-performance composite manufacturing.

Carbon fiber fabric is optimized for automated and precision composite fabrication techniques, including automated fiber placement (AFP), autoclave curing, vacuum bagging, and resin transfer molding (RTM). Its negative coefficient of thermal expansion (-0.3 × 10⁻⁶ /°C, -0.54 × 10⁻⁶ /°F) ensures dimensional stability in extreme temperature fluctuations, while its electrical resistivity of 1.6 × 10⁻³ Ω·cm (6.3 × 10⁻³ Ω·in) allows for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding applications in a variety of applications such as aerospace, automotive, and industrial electronics.

Beyond mechanical performance, carbon fabrics are engineered for chemical resistance, meeting ASTM D543 / ISO 2812 standards for protection against acids, solvents, and hydrocarbons, making carbon fiber fabric well-suited for marine and industrial applications. The material is fully compliant with ASTM, ISO 9001, EN 9100 (AS9100), RoHS, and REACH standards, ensuring high-quality and reliable performance for high-performance composite applications across multiple industries.
